CLASSES
TCKC Offers an Array of Classes
The Treasure Coast Kennel Club of Florida offers a variety of classes to club members and the public. We are proud to put emphasis in education, our classes are for both the beginners and for the more experience people in the dog arena. We believe in training our dogs to become a better part of our family.
Obedience Class
Program: During this six-week course, we will teach you how to train your dog in basic obedience and offer advice on behavior issues. In addition, we will address the requirements, and prepare you for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.
Content: This course will focus on basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and recall, as well as exercises to prepare you for the CGC test and/or the AKC Family Dog Programs.​
Rally
Program: Will learn all signs and moves needed to enter Rally. Dogs should have been through at least beginners obedience Class and know sit, down, stay and heel.
Objectives: To be able to enter Rally Trials and have fun with your dog
Pre-requisite: Basic Obedience skills​

Competition Obedience
Program: Six week course strengthening more advanced obedience skills along with some Rally Obedience and Body Awareness
Pre-requisite: Beginners Obedience

This class is for dogs at least 1 year old who know the basic commands of sit, down, stay, come, and heel. We will build on these commands to add duration, distance, and distractions. This is a good prep course for those interested in Competition Obedience and Rally, and those who want more manners from your dog.
Introduction to Agility
Level I
Introduction to jumps, including the tire jump, tunnel and weave poles. Begin getting the dog accustomed to working on both the right and left sides of the handler. Continue to strengthen control commands. ​
Pre-requisite: Dog must know Basic Obedience, have solid sits, downs, stays and come, and be minimum 12 months of age. Final approval rests with the instructor.​
​Level II
Work with contacts and contact obstacles including the dog walk, teeter-totter and A-frame. Continue building on the other obstacles that you were exposed to in Level I, preparing for off leash work and improving dog/handler teamwork.
Pre-requisite: Into Agility Level I, Final approval rests with the instructor
AKC Fetch
Does your dog love to chase a ball? Not so good at bringing it back to you? Well this is the class for you. Fetch is one of the newest sports in the AKC Family Dog Program. We will cover the basics of the sport and teach techniques for retrieving and prepare to pass a Novice test. Come and learn a fun sport to do with your favorite canine pal. What you will need: a 6 foot leash, a ball or bumper. You can use a Chuck It to aid in throwing a ball.
